Wild Man (Dream Man, #2) - Kristen Ashley Coming off of reading Mystery Man, this one was very subdued. In Mystery Man, it seemed like there was constant action, Gwen in yet another impossible circumstance that someone (one of the alpha men) had to get her out of. Not the case in this one, but it was still a great story.

In this one, we have Brock, who was the guy who was "taking one for the team" and screwing Darla as part of a DEA investigation. I'm not sure if this was before or after he met Tessa, but he also met Tessa as an undercover agent, investing Tessa's ex-husband. But he did this as Jake. Which totally confused the heck out of me at first. I kept thinking, "Jake? Who is Jake? There was no Jake in MM?!" And THEN I realized it was Brock.

Tessa's ex-husband was a bastard. She had run from Damian and had nothing to do with him, despite Damian's repeated attempts at reconciliation. And she'd had such a horrible time with him. And when Jake came along, she thought maybe she had this great shot at a great guy. Until she realized he'd been investigating her and had basically lied about who he was. And she wanted nothing to do with Jake/Brock either.

Three months later, Brock feels like he's given Tessa enough time, so he pushes his way back into her life. Tessa's best friend is not happy about this because she saw Tessa through her horrible marriage AND through the last three months without Jake/Brock. Through a mutual friend, Tessa meets Gwen and Elvira and that crew of girls. Gwen tells Tessa that Brock's not a great guy, also. But Tessa reviews their entire relationship, and ultimately makes her own decision, and it's a good one.

I really liked how neither Brock nor Tessa played games. I liked that Tessa just said how she felt or asked the questions she felt needed asking. I also liked that Brock gave her enough information to trust him, even when his ex-wife started throwing hissy fits. Boy that girl was a piece of work.

I didn't see the twist at the end coming, but it was good. I loved how Tessa not only stood up for her future, but that of Brock as well. A good story, just very different from the first.
