Ten Tiny Breaths - K.A. Tucker

This was a strong 4-1/2 for me, but not quite close enough to warrant a 5. Great story, though. I sort of guessed what was going on halfway through, but the author threw a couple of wrenches in my theory to make me wonder. Still.

Heart wrenching. My heart broke for Kacey so many times throughout the story. And then for Kacey and Trent. And big time near the end. So much guilt. So much pain. So much wasted life and then wasted time. It's been a while since I've cried during a story.

I felt like the author tackled drunk driving and its potential results very well without it sounding preachy. It was just "here's what happens to the survivors". And I loved the doctor's "lesson" on empathy. I can't even imagine how Kacey worked through everything to get from point A to point B like she did. But I'm glad she did. I was rooting for her. For both of them, really.
